American Whitewater launches new website!
American Whitewater has launched a new website, offering the community enhanced opportunities to get involved, learn about, and support the organization’s work.
Easier and more affordable to maintain, allowing content to remain fresh and engaging, the new website is split into three main sections:
- Explore provides an online guide to over 6,000 whitewater rivers, a safety code, an accident database, a river safety video series, organizational background, and the American Whitewater Journal.
- Engage allows users to take action on important issues, explore events, and learn more about stewardship projects.
- Support provides information on membership, donations, and other ways to contribute. Visitors can also access region-specific updates through the footer links.
While the previous site served its purpose, it was super old and contained code dating back to 1998. The new platform is much easier to edit and update, enabling American Whitewater to deliver timely river safety materials, respond more quickly to local river issues, and share compelling stories about the rivers the community enjoys. The updated site is also more shareable, helping amplify the organization’s and community’s work and outreach. The redesign also frees the programming team to focus on improving the river guide and app.
If you haven’t already, give the app a whirl by searching American Whitewater in your app store.
